ROMANCING THE UK

The UK has been painted a very alluring shade of pink with the arrival of an exciting new television channel aimed at female audiences, Zone Romantica.

Zone Romantica is broadcast in the UK on Sky channel 149 and Freesat channel 135.

“Zone Romantica is an appealing mix of good escapist fun and emotionally-charged drama. The channel provides a home for long-running series and feature films, specifically tailor-made for women. We think it’s a long-overdue addition to the TV landscape in the UK,” says Zonemedia’s Kathy Fairbairn, Head of Programming and Acquisitions.

Destined to ignite a passionate following, Zone Romantica features several series from 20th Century Fox Television, including; the highly melodramatic legal ‘dramedy’ starring Calista Flockhart, Ally McBeal; and the hugely popular medical series, Chicago Hope; both from creator, David E. Kelley.

Soap fans will be pleased to learn that Zone Romantica airs three iconic long-running US series. Viewers can follow the dramatic happenings in Salem when Days of Our Lives is brought to UK television screens. Daytime's grande dame, Guiding Light, illuminates the complex lives of the close-knit families living in fictional Springfield, while the salacious soap, The Young and the Restless, follows the daily lives and loves of the residents of Genoa City and the infamous rivalry between Jill Foster Abbot and Katherine Chancellor.

The channel also presents the UK premiere of drama series Snoops. Starring Gina Gershon of Pretty in Pink and Showgirls fame, Snoops is a drama series that centres around an unconventional detective agency in LA. The agency is run by a savvy woman (Gershon) who is more than willing to bend the rules for her clients.

Heart-warming, inspirational films round-out the programming.

The channel’s broadcast hours are from 8am to 3am daily. Additionally, Zone Romantica hosts teleshopping each morning from 5am to 8am.
